There’s a reason why we have two ears and only one mouth, and this week’s Survivor: Blood vs. Water demonstrates why. After an overpacked Immunity Challenge, a major power play at Tribal Council moved this season into “awesome” territory.

Last week on Survivor Kitchen Sink: Hoo boy. Rachel joins Candice and Marissa at Redemption Island. After Tyson refuses to take the bait to swap, he starts trash-talking Tadhana. A few choice words are said, the choicest being “FUCK YOU, BRAD CULPEPPER.” Then Colton uses the heightened tension to fake a breakdown and sashay out of the game. Probst does not go easy on Colton, calling the wannabe villain a two-time quitter before sending him on his way. Rachel lost the truel in dramatic fashion when her domino rally lost the race with Marissa’s. Candice gave her HII clue to John, increasing the size of the target on his back. After Tadhana lost to Galang again, Brad began floating the idea of getting rid of John. The rest of the tribe bought into, John did not have the Idol in his possession and joined his wife on Redemption Island.

Candice was not surprised to have her husband join her in exile, as she accused him of being far too trusting. Even John agrees with that assessment. At the truel, Candice says she would have preferred to have the opportunity to take down Brad. Monica comes to her husband’s defense, saying that it was a tribe and not just Brad who has been voting these people out. John says Brad has been shushing the women back at camp. Brad keeps talking over Candice as she tries to add fuel to the fire, so Brad is not doing himself any favors.

The challenge this week has John, Candice and Marissa weaving a buoy with a key through a tangled rope on a horizontal ladder. After the key gets worked through the tangle, each player will unlock a bag of puzzle pieces to complete a cube puzzle. The players are more-or-less even through the rope portion, but John takes a commanding lead during the puzzle. To get back on his good side, Brad starts shouting out advice to John. John was far enough along where the advice didn’t make much of a difference and John finished first. Marissa became totally stymied, allowing Candice to finish her puzzle. Marissa cries as she receives the news that she has been eliminated.

John and Candice kibbitz about who should get the clue. Candice suggests Monica and John agrees, saying having information creates a target and the Culpeppers need to be dealt with. Brad tells his wife to burn the clue, so Monica heads down to the sacred flame of fire and tosses in the scroll. That’s that then.
